Refurbing my GT spokes, what...
Guys,
Need your advice, since I have my winterwheels mounted, I want to refurbish my GT spoke alloys, or better, have them refurbished . Only I'm in doubt. I'm going to have them pouder coated, but not sure what color.....I'm afraid that anthracite will make it a bit dark, as I have a black car.
Any ideas?

Recent downtime - Additional...
Hi all,
Just a very quick note to say that we have unavoidable downtime between 7-9PM tonight (04-03-10).
We are updating the backend software on the servers as the recent downtime that we all suffered was linked to an external source trying to break in... I cannot tell you exactly why until the issue is resolved with our data centre where our servers are kept.
We have also brought in Mc Afee to aid this upgrade for confidence and at a considerable cost to make sure we are secured to PCI standard. (We cannot blame Bradders for this one guys )
I can however guarantee that our server security and firewall was not breached and we were only off line to make sure that this was the case. As I said this is unavoidable and we hope to return to normal service from approx 9PM. I guess this is all part and parcel of becoming a succesful and large web site, clearly big enough for someone to chance their arm at getting in with the aim to spoil our fun.
We have no control over this upgrade and totally reliant on other contractors so if we return and have issues, plese understand that I will be on their case to speed up the process.
Regards,
Ian

Alfa GT: New flywheel too?
Hi,
I have an early (04) GT 1.9JTD. The gearbox is leaking which means that a seal's gone - iIn any event, to fix this the gearbox has to come out. Since she's done 92k I'm thinking that the sensible thing is to fit a new clutch at the same time. And to buy a Golf next time...
I've had a couple of quotes, and the last one said that if the flywheel in the car now doesn't meet a certain test then it would need replacing too. Can anyone help me understand if this is likely to need replacing, and why this would be? I thought flywheels were for life...

Which one of these would you...
Hello there. Im on the way to buying my Alfa...I hope.
Im very keen to get one ASAP and there are two that I have found that match my criteria in the looks department. Unfortunately the don't have the engines I would like which would be a 2.0 jtd or a 2.5 V6. Unfortunately anything other than a 1.6 seems to be a rare commodity indeed in this country.
With that in mind I am prepared to compromise. I have two cars which im planning on viewing next week and I would like to know which one the forum thinks would be the better option.
Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 TI 4DR - €8,950 - Used Cars on Carzone.ie - New & Used Cars in Ireland
This one is a 1.6 Ti and when I called about it the dealer was fairly adamant he would not drop by much in the price. It is a lovely car to look at and the spec is fantastic.
Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTDm Estate - €8,495 - Used Cars on Carzone.ie - New & Used Cars in Ireland
This is a 2.4 JTDm and when I called about it the dealer immediately said he would sell it for €7,000. Now if he went to 7k that quick im pretty sure I could get him down some more. Again very nicely spec'ed and a beautiful colour. It's not a TI but it is nearly as nice.
My only issue with it is that it is a diesel. I love revvy engines and one of the things i love most about any car is the sound. The 2.5V6 is a masterpiece but there is f-all chance of getting one in Ireland. I always imagined my first Alfa having two spark plugs...at least!!! Not none!
Anyway, i put on about 500 miles a week so fuel economy is a concern. These are mainly motorway miles but I do like to drive on a bit.
which would you go for? Please have a look at the two cars I have linked. Thanks.

Brera 2.4 JTDM to 159 Ti:...
Hi guys,
I am a very happy owner of a metallic silver 2006 (56) Brera 2.4JTDM SV. It's got the Bose upgrade and now wears 19" Brera 'S' alloys so looks great (IMHO). The car has covered just over 36k miles now and is running perfectly.
My main problem is that, increasingly, I need a bit more space. Be that attending meetings with colleaugues, taking stuff to the tip or going on weekends away with the boat (although the Brera has done a fine job).
Would a swap to a 159 Ti leave me cold? And what do you reckon the cost to change would be, assuming a swap to a similar mileage and age (maybe a 2007) Ti 2.4? I believe the depreciation curve for the Brera is a touch better, so maybe close to a straight swap would be possible; obviously a dealer will want some cash.
Thoughts?
PS, Apologies for the poor 'phone pic. I will be getting the DSLR out soon...

156 Clutch
I'm only using the car every other few days now and when starting off sometimes the clutch pedal doesn't "spring up" and there's no hydraulic back pressure (and of course it's not possible to engage gears).
Pumping or pulling the pedal up has so far restored the correct operation.
Is this a sign of a failing clutch or something else. Clutch from new has done 75,000mls.
Hope someone can help on this one.
thanks

BOSE Stereo system...
Here's one I could do with some advice on......
I have a 156 with the BOSE sound system. It has the original Blaupunkt cd player fitted. I have recently fitted a parrott hands free kit, which uses the iso connectors from the stereo to interface with the stereo system. It all works fine except when I finish a call and the parrot switches back to the stereo, it gives a loud "Pop". It is an electrical connection type of pop, and I was wondering if it was something to do with the BOSE system? Does the bose system have a seperate processor / amp etc that could be causing the popping?
Answers on a postcard please..........

Bridgestone Potenzas from 159...
Any ideas where to sell these? I stuck them up on ebay but not getting much response, even with a 99p starting price and 5-6mm of tread on one of the sets of two. They're clogging up the garage and now I have my shiny new 18" horeshoes, need to get rid of them.

Hi Alfa lovers!
I am on my first Alfa its a GTV ts lusso 2.0 and have had it about 18 months. Have always admired the stylings and sleek looks of Alfas and fell in love as soon as I saw it! My GTV is quite an unusual colour kind of silver but tints blue or green depending on the weather. Have a few problems with it the fuel gage is not always accurate as I found out at 3 in the morning, the window goes down whenyou open the door and stays down and sometimes leaks when it rains but I cant help but forgive it!
Not practicle at all struggle to fit people in the back no boot space but who cares I love it and will keep it till either one of us dies lol!

Stuck window when opening...
Hi
Whenever the passenger door is opened on my GTV the window goes all the way down instead of just a crack. It has been happening for a couple of weeks but yesterday it would not come back up. I pressed the window button and it still remained down. All I can hear is a constant clicking noise. However this morning I pressed the button and the window came back up. Has anybody had a similar problem and know what causes it? I am now hessitant when opening the door incase it happens again. Any advice greatly appreciated many thanks
